The world we live in today is unrecognizable; It is only a shadow of what it used to be. Chaos is swirling all around us, while everything seems to be spiraling out of control. It is like we went to sleep one day and then woke up trapped in the twilight zone. Our innocence had been stolen and what we thought was a nightmare, has become our new reality. The never-ending violence shows no let up in sight, while hate spreads with such voracity, un-checked to consume everything in its path. The uncertainty of tomorrow has created a situation ripe with division, dysfunction, corruption and fear, all the things that our Enemy represents. Only, he doesn’t plan to stop there for, “the thief comes only to kill, steal and to destroy” (John 10:10). Everyone is impacted, but no man-made solution will make a difference. We must first seek the kingdom of God, and His righteousness so that these things (peace) can be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).
These are perilous times that we live in, that seem to only be getting worse. Even-still, with everything that is going on and the state of the world today, there seems to be an all out effort to place God in a tiny box with a bow, on a shelf only to be pulled down at the world’s convenience. As if that wasn’t bad enough, there has been movement to remove Jesus out of the equation entirely. Oh there is something about the name of Jesus that makes people want to lose their minds. Many of us can pinpoint when this exact shift began. The actions and choices made yesterday, have us where we are today and I shudder to think where we will be tomorrow. What is certain, is that this did not happen overnight. It took a while to get here, but now that we are here in a situation of our own doing, are we willing to change?
Make a Choice
People are either in denial or they do not understand that the further we go down this road, the further we will move out of God’s proper alignment. We can either choose to turn back to God and allow Him to turn this around as only He could, or we can choose to move forward the way we have been, blinded by pride and sin. We have forgotten that, “this struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of darkness” (Ephesians 6:12). God blessed us with free will to allow us to make a choice to follow, to serve and to be used by Him. He is waiting for us to choose Him and eternal life, rather than the “ruler of this world” (John 12:31) and spiritual death.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
