Come Out of Organized Religion

Come Out of Organized Religion

The world is ever-changing, spiraling out of control. The speed with which the world seems to be moving, leaves us swooning with very little time to catch our breaths or to find a steady footing to remain grounded. Knowledge has increased more in our generation than in anytime in our history. “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased” (Daniel 12:4). In the midst of such chaos, turmoil and instability, an increasing number of people are experiencing a spiritual awakening. With the advance of the knowledge of mankind, technology and of Yah, people are finding the courage to buck societal norms and are coming out of organized religion. They are not to be confused with atheists or agnostics because they do believe that Yah exists. I for one, identify myself as being spiritual, not religious while seeking to nurture a right relationship with the Father and His Son, rather than simply going along, wrong with the crowd. Organized religion at the end of the day is a man-made concept selling half-truths and falsehoods that amount to Sun-day and pagan worship.

I Grew Up an Episcopalian

I was born and raised an Episcopalian. I was a 5th generation member of my church, which had a booming congregation that was predominantly Bahamian or Bahamian descent. The church had a very rich history, steeped in tradition and the congregation took pride in that. Other churches around us enjoyed visiting especially for special occasions, since we were one of the largest and oldest congregations in the area. I grew up walking distance from the church, so I can remember as a little girl, attending services every Sunday with my great grandmother until my brothers were old enough to attend as well. On some Sundays, there would be 4 generations present from my family (my great grandmother, grandmother, my parents and my brothers and I) in church. From a fleshly perspective, I do miss the older people and the generations that have long passed away that were so integral in my life as a young girl, and even before my own awakening. However, from a spiritual standpoint, I have grown leaps and bounds more outside the church than I have ever grown attending one.

Why No Religion You Ask?

Why no religion you ask? For starters you must “Study to shew thyself approved unto Yah, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Understand that your studying is a lifelong journey, which means until death. With humility, you must admit that you don’t know everything and that half the things you think you know, will have to be unlearned. I do believe that if you take a step back, remove the blinders from your eyes, ask the Father for His guidance through prayer and then actively not passively study and seek the truths which have been concealed for a reason, you will begin to see the true purpose of religion. “Hear what Yah says to you, people of Israel. This is what Yah says: “Do not learn the ways of the nations (heathens) who try to read their future in the stars. Do not be afraid of their predictions, even though other nations are terrified by them. Their ways are futile and foolish. They cut down a tree, and a craftsman carves an idol” (Jeremiah 10:1-3). My brothers and sisters, no religion has escaped the Enemy’s long and expansive reach, not even Christianity as even the most diehard of Christians celebrate Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day, and Halloween, not considering their pagan and not biblical origins. Many people take part in these activities and don’t bother to research what they are participating in. In researching you will come to realize, as I have, that organized religion today is as divisive and as pagan, as it was yesterday, and is used as the spark to divide, control, conquer and destroy. The most popular religions of the day, have Yah’s children’s blood on their hands by the millions. Religion is cut from the same cloth, so regardless of which road you take they all lead to the same destination. In the end, they are riddled with lies, some truths to pacify you while tickling your ears, mixed with pagan worship meant to bring honor and glory to the Enemy.

It’s Not About Tradition, But Obedience

As I got older questions arose, but of course I was in no position to affect change. So too many of us, even as adults, continue to go with the flow, afraid to pry and ask why we do the things we do. But it is in so doing, that we realize we do them because it is the way we have always done them, regardless of whether what we do is right in Yah’s eyes and not man’s eyes. People so often get wrapped up in ceremonial traditions, that they never ask the “why” and whether it is something Yah has ordained in His Word. The devil is always in the details, which is probably why they are not provided so readily and require seeking them to uncover them. When we ask the right questions and dig deeper getting into the weeds, we discover that the vast majority of what we do in religion stems from tradition and was instituted and constituted by man and not Yah. Tradition means nothing in the overall scheme of things, if what you are doing is against what Yah intended. Our Creator cares nothing for our earthly customs and traditions as it is all about our obedience and our adherence to His laws, statutes and commandments. “I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.  Thou shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make unto yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them, or serve them: for I your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me” (Exodus 20:2-5).

Unchaining Our Minds

“But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:9). Yah’s Word has been used to justify everything from enslaving His people to enacting terminal judgement on others. Hate groups have claimed supremacy over a group of people relegating them to inferior status, simply because of the color of their skin. We have been sold nothing but lies from the very beginning and when we begin to peel back the lies, for ourselves, to reveal the truth, it is then that we begin to unchain our minds and souls from the cares of this world. Do not depend on man or place your complete trust in your pastors, ministers or people in a position of authority or leadership to save you. I have been there and have done that and have been nothing but disappointed. While being under spiritual attack by the Enemy, the one place I thought I could turn did nothing but continuously throw me back to the Enemy (long story for another time). Seeking after Yah is the start of knowledge which is the beginning of obtaining wisdom. I must warn you that everything that man says you can and should do, places you in direct opposition to what your Father in Heaven tells you to do or not to do. Matthew 15:1-6 tells us that, “some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Yahusha from Jerusalem and asked, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”Yahusha replied, “And why do you break the command of Yah for the sake of your tradition? For Yah said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to Yah,’ they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition” (Matthew 15:1-6).

You Will Have To Choose

There are many instances where traditions, customs and man-made laws have been elevated above our Father’s laws, statutes and commandments. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work but the seventh day is a Sabbath of Yah your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days Yah made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Yah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy” (Exodus 20:8-11). With Yah so adamant about us keeping the Sabbath, which is one of His 10 commandments, who gave man the authority to ever change it from the 7th day of the week to now the 1st day of the week? Need we ask who or why it was done? In addition, sexual immorality, pre-marital sex and shacking up or living together is acceptable in the eyes of man, but Yah makes it quite clear that it is unacceptable. “It is Yah’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4) and that you “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry” (Colossians 3:5). Rest assured that sooner or later we will have to decide which side of the fence we will be standing on, because straddling it will not be an option. Our choice will either pit us squarely against man and the world or against Yah and His Kingdom. Trust that whatever choice we make will have longstanding and far-reaching consequences not only in the here and now, but the hereafter.
