Where are Your Treasures?

By Kendra Clarke

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be” (Matthew 6:19-21).

Where are your treasures? Where is your heart? If you were offered a million dollars, fortune and fame, not one but multiple mansions, as if you could live in more than one at a time, luxury cars, jets and diamond rings, what would your response be? Would you say “sign me up”, and sign your name on the dotted line with no questions asked or would you think and respond, “What’s the catch for me to have all that”? Even still considering your current circumstances, would you have mustered up enough courage to say, “thanks but no thanks, I’m good” even though you may never fully know, in the flesh, the price you would have had to have paid to have those treasures and that you would have been making a deal with the devil.

“Those who want to be rich, however, fall into temptation and become ensnared by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (1 Timothy 6:9-10).

The “Be All and End All”

The above question is a very important one to ponder, because it is packaged and sold to us as the “be all and end all” of life everyday, as many are entrapped and enthralled by the chase. What we see on the regular, are the so-called “privileged ones” who appear to have all the material wealth and power that money can buy, but are empty inside and unhappy. What good is it for man to gain the whole world then lose his soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?”(Mark 8:35-36). They have sold their souls for what amounts to be temporary gain, and have pledged their allegiance to the Enemy. They flaunt their wealth and bling for the cameras as something we should all strive to attain, but that is all a part of the illusion, smoke and mirrors…the deception, the good ole okey doke. For when we pull back the curtain, we will see nothing like what is presented. What we will see are soul-less puppets, building their wealth by distracting and lulling the masses to sleep as they drive right off a cliff.

Lies and Deception

“Therefore rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short “(Revelation 12:12). Woe to us is right!… Just as back then, he desires all worship reserved for Yah, because he believes it is rightfully his. As a result, he has devised a way to divert our worship from Yah funneling it straight to himself. Through these celebrities, entertainers, politicians, athletes, megachurch pastors, etc. that push his demonic agenda, many are propped up as idols, to be applauded and worshipped and the masses don’t even realize that is what they are doing. These individuals worship money as if it were a god, many of them believe they are little gods, and to that end, they are often willing to do and say whatever it takes to gain more, because no amount of money or level of fame is ever going to be good enough (Sounds familiar). The masses are simply a means to their ends.

Nothing New Under the Sun

We have been born and indoctrinated into a system built on lies and deception. The Father of Lies, has had ample time to perfect his plots, plans, ploys and schemes which have been upgraded, pre and re-packaged and sold to the unsuspecting from generation to generation. Did we think that after he was cast out of Heaven, that he would have changed his spots? No…he hasn’t changed nor will he ever. Why would he change his method or modus operandi, when he gets such great results. This is how Satan worked yesterday and it is how he works even today, for nothing is new under the sun.  “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to Yah; it does not submit to Yah’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please Yah” (Romans 8:5-8). This world cares absolutely nothing for spiritual things even though it is those spiritual, unseen things that run this physical reality.

This Is Not Your Home

Don’t get caught up in what your physical eyes can see because they will deceive you every time. Don’t focus all your attention on what you hear or see on television because lies can so very often be twisted to sound like the truth. Trust that striving to attain worldly treasures or possessions is a chasing after the wind, because even if you should happen to obtain material wealth, you still can not take it with you and the price paid to have it will not be worth it in the end. “Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle” (Proverbs 23:4-5).  That is not the purpose of your life on this earth for you are to, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2) for these things can and will one day pass away.  1 Peter 2:11 tells you that, “…this world is not your home, so don’t make yourselves cozy in it. Don’t indulge your ego at the expense of your soul”.  “For you are looking forward to a home yet to come” (Hebrews 13:14). I don’t know about you, but they can have the temporal things of this world, for I’m willing to holdout for the eternal riches of Heaven. Do not envy them at all for, “There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off” (Proverbs 23:17-19).

If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of Yah abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).
